The Workshop Tent:

All sessions in The Workshop Tent were free:

  • Royal Greenwich Heritage Centre ran an arts & crafts session called Votes for All! Learn about the struggle for everyone to have their fair say. You could have made a rosette to support either the suffragettes or the suffragists two groups who campaigned for women’s right to vote over a century ago.  www.greenwichheritage.org/visit
  • Bonkerz! Djembe drumming ran a session where you could have come along and played some drums. Suitable for all ages, no experience necessary, and if you wanted to, you could have taken part in a performance in the Acoustic Cafe afterwards!
  • Wandsworth Uke Troop ran a session in The Workshop Tent where you could have  learnt to play the ukulele. All ages welcome, and it’s free to join in. You could even have performed in the Acoustic Cafe afterwards!  www.facebook.com/WandsworthUkeTroop/
  • David Hall ran his awesome Mathmagics in The Workshop Tent, he put lots of fun into maths, great for kids and suitable for all ages, and it was free! It’s been described as the best maths demonstration ever!  www.davidhallworkshopsandshows.co.uk/Welcome.html
  • Emmanuel The Magnificent led an interactive session, open to all ages, that included African drumming, dance and storytelling.  Participants were encouraged to learn new skills, gain introductory background knowledge of cultural origin, social significance and historical context of some of the instruments, props and equipment. Opportunities for individual creative expression were supported after master demonstrations. Workshops enabled participants to learn creative new techniques that help enhance life skills such as confidence, communication, concentration, coordination, collaboration and creativity promoting health, fitness and wellbeing.  www.facebook.com/Emmanuel-The-Magnificent-220675761316055/
