On 25 May 2018, Data Protection law will change. We are in the process of sending emails to those in our contacts list asking them to ACT NOW if they would like to be kept directly informed about Plumstead Make Merry events and activities.
These contacts have, in the past, provided us with personal data either as a participant at our events, as a supporter or volunteer, or by responding to a survey or providing other feedback about our activities. Sometimes we use this data to keep people up to date with information about our events and activities.
Under the new law (General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR), we are required to seek permission to hold personal data so that we can continue to send updates on Plumstead Make Merry events and activities in future. We can assure you that we will not sell or share any personal data with anyone else. Those we have been, or are in, contact with have the right to ask to see what personal information we hold about them and they are free to change their mind, at any time, and ask us to delete or amend that information by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What we intend to do:
- As we are in the process or organising this year’s event on 9th June, we will assume that anyone participating in the event, in any capacity, will wish us to retain their personal information. Unless informed otherwise, this we will do.
- As we have a “two year rule” regarding performers, we will also retain personal information regarding participants at our event in 2017. Unless informed otherwise, this we will do.
- Personal information pertaining to anyone else will be deleted. Unless informed otherwise, this we will do.
We are asking people to please reply* by 23 May if you would prefer us to delete or retain your personal information contrary to our intentions. If we do not hear from you by midnight on 23 May, we will assume your agreement to our our intentions, as outlined in points 1 to 3 above. Please also tell us, at anytime, should you change your mind, require an amendment or would like to view the data we hold.
*Let us know, at email@example.com by including “Delete” or “Retain” in the subject box. For amendments, include “Amend” in the subject box and provide clear details.
